This workshop has passed. Read the reviews below or see all our current workshops here.

Join me Rebecca, author and Creative Director of Betty Etiquette to learn the calming process of watercolour lettering.

In this beginners workshop we will look at how to use a water brush and roundhead paintbrush to create beautiful modern calligraphy inspired lettering. We will work through materials, setting up your workspace, brush techniques and creating flowing letterforms.

Using my experience teaching workshops across the country in venues including the V&A and Liberty, I'll help you discover your own lettering style you can use for gifts, journaling and letter writing.

You will learn to mix and blend colours within your lettering and once you have got to grips with the basics we will create a piece of wall art with your new skills.

You'll need the following materials to take part - I've linked to some recommendations but if you own similar materials, they'll be just fine!

  • A range of watercolours in tubes or a pan set
  • A small (size 2 or 3) round head paintbrush
  • 5 sheets of hot pressed watercolour paper or thick card
  • 10 sheets of Cartridge, mixed media paper or a sketchbook for practice and mark-making
  • A waterbrush
  • Printed guidelines & worksheets (emailed to you in advance)
